Dr. Smedley is a senior healthcare executive with extensive experience in oncology administration, health system service line management, operational quality improvement, health services research, and is a recognized “Top Voice in Healthcare Management” on LinkedIn.
Dr. Smedley currently supports The Kinetix Group, an international healthcare consultancy focused on the life sciences industry, where he brings hands-on health system and oncology leadership expertise to the firm. He does advisory work specializing in customer engagement strategy, clinical operations and patient journey, account executive team training, process and quality improvement, market research, and practice transformation services. He also currently supports the Office of the UAB Health System Chief Medical and Quality Officer as a contracted collaborative leader, organizing and promoting the clinical quality, patient safety, and quality improvement efforts within the entire UAB Health System enterprise.
Dr. Smedley holds a Doctor of Science in Healthcare Leadership with a concentration in oncology operations and has completed Master of Science degrees in Healthcare Administration and Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety. His doctoral dissertation was on The Adoption of New Cancer Drugs in Non-Academic Cancer Centers. His continuing research interests are in overcoming the impact of therapeutic inertia on the adoption of new treatments and therapies.
Linda is an experienced high school teacher and professional presentations coach, specializing in public speaking, world history, art history, cultural geography, and study skills. She also mentors and coaches early career women, teaches women's leadership programs, and travels internationally to present on women's leadership program development topics. In 2001, Linda became certified to teach leadership and professional presentations programs, and for the last 20 years has been training and coaching students and adults in communication skills, effective human relations skills, making professional presentations, and leadership development. Linda has a degree in communications from Vanderbilt University.
